1.    Understand Sacrifice

Success isn’t the lottery and there’s no such thing as overnight success. If you want to succeed, you’re going to have to work hard and make sacrifices – lots of them. Even though it may be intimidating, just keep your mind set on your goals and push through! Persistency is an essential quality for every business leader. If you failed the first time, dust yourself off and get back on your feet!

Remember: Success takes time.

2.    Wake up Early

Who doesn’t love sleeping in and snoozing your alarm? Waking up early is a quality that will require a lot of discipline and persistency, but once you get in the habit, there’s no turning back! Waking up before anybody else allows you to plan your day and be more productive.

3.    Make a Daily “Plan of Attack”

With that being said, wake up early and make a “plan of attack”! Be strategic. Arrange your projects so that you tackle the most challenging one first — when your energy level is going to be at it’s highest and your mind is at its sharpest. Also, writing down all the tasks you need to accomplish can help you multitask. While you wait for one task to “load” or someone to “respond”, start working on the next thing on your list!

4.    Take Risks- And Don’t Be Afraid of Failure

Business is not for the faint of heart. Step out of your comfort zone. Be adventurous. TAKE RISKS. Most successfule business leaders and companies throughout the world started in the same place: taking risks. Innovative ideas require a bold leader to be willing to risk failure and recognize that if they fail, they will simply learn from it and try again. Its important to risk, but it’s also important to recognize that failure is inevitable throughout your business journey. The key is to learn from it! You’d be surprised how many inventions came out of failures.

Take Post-it  notes for example. Spencer Silver was trying to invent an industrial strength adhesive but failed miserably. Instead, he realized his glue did not stick that strongly and could be easily be peeled away. Take this failure and – voilà- you get the incredible post-it notes!

 5.   Surround Yourself With People You Admire

“The fastest way to change yourself is to hang out with people who are already the way you want to be.”

—Reid Hoffman, LinkedIn Co-Founder

It’s essential to surround yourself with people that are the way you want to be. The people you are surrounded by will always have an influence on the way you make your choices- but you are the one who chooses who those people will be.

Want to be a great business leader?

Surround yourself with business leaders.

Want to have a healthier life style?

Surround yourself with people that are positive, workout, and eat healthy.

They may challenge you, but this will only cause you to grow as a leader!

6.   Whatever you do – Strive to be the Best at It

This is perhaps the best advice I ever received. When you strive to be the best at what you do – even if you think your job is insignificant- people will eventually notice and success will be at your door. Companies want to hire people who are passionate that strive to be the best and won’t settle for a mediocre job. Implementing this mindset will not only make you a better employee, but also a great business owner. Eventually, you’ll want your business to be the best and you won’t settle for anything less than excellence!
