Industrial Cleaner in Portage, IN

Innovative Staff Solutions (ISS) is looking for motivated and dependable individuals to join our team as Industrial Cleaner in Portage, Indiana. We offer weekly pay, a fast hiring process, and the opportunity to transition into a full-time role within 90 days.

What You’ll Do

As an Industrial Cleaner, you will help ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality terminal and boiler operations. Your responsibilities will include:

Boiler & Utility Operations

• Operate boilers, including startup, shutdown, and periodic maintenance
• Maintain boiler chemical and salt drum levels
• Blow down steam lines as needed or at the end of each shift
• Assist with boiler breakdown and preparation for annual inspections
• Operate water softeners and manage boiler water treatment processes

Product Heating & Monitoring

• Conduct heating operations for customer products using steam or hot water
• Work with tank cars, tank wagons, BLC containers, and storage tanks
• Connect and disconnect steam hoses and traps safely
• Monitor and maintain product temperatures according to specifications
• Understand product temperature profiles and heating processes

Tracking & Documentation

• Log hourly and daily steam temperatures and operational data
• Assist with monthly thermometer calibrations
• Accurately gauge and record temperatures of containers and tanks

Loading & Equipment Support

• Assist with loading and unloading tank cars, wagons, and containers
• Pull product samples for quality checks
• Perform filter changes and hose pressure testing
• Operate equipment such as a Bobcat (training provided as needed)

General Maintenance & Housekeeping

• Maintain a clean and safe work environment across all terminal areas
• Complete general maintenance tasks as assigned
• Promote strong customer relationships by meeting product handling requirements

We’re seeking reliable, detail-oriented individuals who can thrive in a fast-paced industrial environment. Preferred qualifications include:

Core Skills & Experience

• Knowledge of boiler operations (startup, shutdown, and maintenance)
• Understanding of product steaming processes and temperature profiles
• Ability to follow detailed procedures and safety requirements
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills

Safety & Compliance Knowledge

• Familiarity or awareness of:
  • ISO 9001 & FSSC 22000 standards
  • Food Safety practices and policies
  • Confined space entry procedures
  • Hot work permitting
  • Lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures
  • Hazard communication and Hazmat guidelines
  • DOT regulations and Hazwoper First Responder awareness
  • Emergency evacuation procedures
