Derek is a distinguished alumnus of Eastern Illinois University, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics complemented by a minor in Business. Commencing his journey with ISS in 2004 as an Operations Manager, Derek’s exemplary leadership and strategic acumen propelled him through the ranks. Within two years, he assumed the role of Branch Sales Manager, showcasing his aptitude for driving operational excellence and business growth.

In 2007, Derek ascended to the position of Vice President, where he assumed responsibility for overseeing the daily operations of over 20 ISS locations. His dynamic leadership and unwavering commitment to excellence positioned him to be appointed as the President of the company in 2018. Leveraging decades of experience, dedication, and a relentless pursuit of unparalleled customer service, Derek steers the company toward its utmost potential, ensuring sustained success for decades to come. Simultaneously, he holds the esteemed position of President at ISS Insurance Group, a company he founded in August 2012.

A strong advocate for community engagement, Derek instills a culture of philanthropy within Innovative Staff Solutions. Under his guidance, the company actively contributes to local initiatives and not-for-profit organizations, amassing over 25,000 hours of community impact in the past 5 years. Derek’s commitment to community service is further reflected in his past board membership with the local chapter of Society of Human Resources Management (SHRM), presidency at The United Way of Coles County, and contributions to the Local Workforce Investment (LWIA) board. Formerly serving as the President of the Mattoon Golf & Country Club and a board member for the Coles County Community Business Group, Derek remains deeply involved in fostering community development.

Beyond his professional endeavors, Derek is a devoted husband and father, finding joy in spending time with his wife Lisa and their two children. His passion for golf, cultivated during his competitive college years at Eastern Illinois University, has persisted throughout his life. Derek played professionally for three years, later becoming a reinstated amateur in 2008. An avid participant in national tournaments, he boasts notable achievements such as the runner-up position in the 2012 Illinois State Amateur, the 2015 Carlton Woods Invitational Champion, and the 2019 Canadian Men’s Mid Master Champion. His golf journey includes seven United States Golf Association qualifications, showcasing his enduring dedication to the sport.
